Questions to Ask before Treatment

The decision to have a cosmetic procedure performed is a significant one. Changing one's appearance is a big step and can have lasting consequences. Once you've made the decision, the main concern is to choose a physician who is committed to performing wrinkle and aging skin treatment regularly. One of the first questions to ask is "What's your specialty?" Find out what the focus of the practice is. Do they treat people with your condition regularly?

Treating aging skin is a complex endeavor requiring specific knowledge and experience. The person treating you should understand and have knowledge of the skin and the treatment options available. Are they board-certified? A dermatologist? Is there a board certified physician of any kind in the office?

Ideally you want to find out if the person treating you is one of the experts in the field. "Is this treatment the ideal one for me?" "Are there alternatives which would be better suited to my condition or skin type?" And never be afraid to ask for references.

Here is a list of questions to ask prior to receiving treatment:

  • "What's your specialty?"
  • "Are you a board-certified physician?"
  • "Is there a board-certified physician anywhere on the premises?"
  • "Do you own your own lasers?"
  • "What are the alternative treatments available for me?"
  • "How many different lasers do you own?"
  • "Is your laser good for people with my skin type?"
  • "Do you have any references?"

Treatment Options Include: Laser Skin Resurfacing, Fractional Laser Resurfacing, IPL, Radiofrequency Rejuvenation, Plasma Skin Regeneration or Injectables/ Dermal Fillers.
