Cosmoderm and Cosmoplast are used to treat fine lines, wrinkles, and scars. Cosmoderm is generally considered more appropriate for superficial fine lines, such as those in the upper or lower lip areas, while Cosmoplast is well suited for deeper wrinkles. They were both approved by the Food and Drug Administration in 2003.
Both Cosmoderm and Cosmoplast contain lidocaine, an anesthetic, which numbs the skin at the site of injection.
People with known allergies to lidocaine or a history of serious allergic reactions should not use Cosmoderm or Cosmoplast.
