Aluma™ Skin Renewal- Costs, Results, & Side Effects

The AlumaTM

The Aluma, which is marketed and manufactured by Lumenis® of Santa Clara, CA, is a radiofrequency device designed to improve skin laxity and texture. Utilizing bipolar radiofrequency technology, the Aluma allows the operator to control the volume of skin that is treated.

According to Lumenis, the Aluma is generally low-risk and low-pain for the patient during treatment. The procedure is also typically performed without any anesthesia. For information about the cost of Aluma procedures, click here.

The Procedure

The Aluma hand piece is placed on the part of the skin to be treated. A vacuum within the hand piece folds the skin, creating tight contact and positions the dermis in alignment with the path of the radiofrequency energy. The purpose is to create heat stimulus within the dermis, leading to collagen contraction and creation.

Any Downtime?

Generally patients will experience no downtime with an Aluma treatment, returning to normal activity after the procedure.

How long does it take?

The Aluma treatment, according to Lumenis, will take about 15 minutes.
